Hasan Fevzi Batirel, MD, PhD

Dr. Batirel received his medical degree from Marmara University Faculty of Medicine, Istanbul, Turkey. He then completed his residency at Department of Thoracic Surgery, Marmara University Faculty of Medicine, Istanbul, Turkey. From 1999 to 2001, Dr. Batirel was the Clinical Fellow in Division of Thoracic Surgery, Department of Surgery, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, USA. Dr. Batirel has been the Professor at Department of Thoracic Surgery, Marmara University Faculty of Medicine, Istanbul, Turkey since 2010.

Dr. Batirel is a member of many Scienti c and Professional Societies. He has been a member of International Mesothelioma Interest Member Group since 2002, European Society of Thoracic Surgeons since 2004 and Society of Thoracic Surgeons (USA) since 2012. Especially, he has become a member of American Association for Thoracic Surgery Member, as the first person in Turkey who joins the association.

Dr. Batirel has taken an active part in Editroa Boards of international and Turkish journals. Since 2013, Dr. Batirel has been the Councillor (Executive Committee) of European Society of Thoracic Surgeons, Editorial Board Member of World Journal of Surgery and Associate Editor of Turkish Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.

Dr. Batirel has given many lectures on international meetings, authored a series of articles in numerous professional publications and contributed many chapters to a variety of medical books or texts.

Dr. Batirel’s research interests include Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery, Mesothelioma, Esophageal Cancer and Hiatal Hernia and Gastroesophageal Reflux, etc.
